Hasegawa Prints for Of Course @ Lopo Gallery

May 14th, 2011

Lopo Gallery is showing Justin Lovato, Jason Vivona and Chad Hasegawa May 14, 2011 – June 4 2011. In preparation for the show Chad came down to the shop and we cranked out some really nice prints (last minute, of course.) A few variations of the Bear and Paw on board and paper to be incorporated in his installation. Lucky for the loin a few pieces of wood panel were laying around. We printed a pair of originals to add to our growing art collection of works by visitors and collaborators. Check out more of Chad’s work on his blog. He’s been prolific around SF recently, and we really like his work. Chad agreed to collaborate with the loin on a tee, so look out for that because it’s gonna kill it.

RISE JAPAN: Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fundraiser

April 2nd, 2011

The artist collective S.I.R. has hung a canvas across the entire wall of Public Barber Salon (a sponsor and participant in RISE JAPAN.) This canvas is a wishing wall and it will make it’s way to Japan. Take a short walk down from Gallery Heist and Kokoro Studio tonight to 571 Geary to sign the wishing wall. Also, two new loin tees released tonight, proceeds of which will go to Give2Aisa via RISE JAPAN.

Quarter Pipe Tee

the Quarter Pipe tee

The driveway/sidewalk/parking lot quarter pipe is an iconic object. I’ve spent a lot of time entertaining myself building them, dragging them around from spot to spot, and entertaining the crew by bringing one along. Had to put it on a shirt. That’s not white ink on there either. It’s the super soft discharge process. Breathable, soft to the touch, nice.

TENDERLOIN in Chevrons Tee

TENDERLOIN in Chevrons Tee

I got a thing for patterns, and bright colors. The TENDERLOIN pattern, inspired by the chevron, actually does have TENDERLOIN hidden in the pattern. It’s there, I promise. Again, super soft water-base inks used for super soft and breathable print.

There will be the usual I <3 TL and the loin tees, hoodies, stickers, etc. All for a good cause. See ya there.

Ink Blot Hoodie

February 16th, 2011

The inkblot graphic was designed by Jeronimo Roldan, a recent California College of the Arts graduate. The shapes were created by blowing ink onto paper and tracing copier enlargements. The material used for the graphic is Eco-vinyl. What we like about Eco-vinyl is it’s Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification, which means it has been tested for chemicals harmful to health, and has none. There’s only four of these right now, size x-tra small to large, one of each. Available at WonderlandSF. Check our stockists page for details.

Scoutmob write-up on the loin

Our new stockist Wonderland SF turned Thrilllist on to the loin. We got a write-up and some props. Breanna from Scoutmob came down to the shop for a full on interview and some pics. We’ve been seeing her at a number of our events, she rocks. Like both articles say, we’ve got more new designs in the works, and there’s a few new ones up on our shop, and at our stockists. Follow us on twitter and/or facebook and know when newness drops.

The Bride of Trickster Treat 2010

October 30th, 2010

Our 4th annual Trickster Treat race is about to kick off (tomorrow, Halloween day.) This year we’re benefiting an excellent charity, Up On Top. From their website

“Up On Top is an effective educational program for more than 90 of San Francisco’s most disadvantaged kindergarteners to fifth graders, who live primarily in the Tenderloin and Western Addition districts.”

Both of those neighborhoods house quite a few low income families. All race proceeds will go to Up On Top, including sales of the official race tee as well as a limited edition redesign of a best selling tee by Zero Per Gallon, 53 miles per burrito. It incorporates two special inks, glow in the dark and ultra violet (hidden in the wheels as a dot pattern.) When it gets dark or the sun shines so does the wheel set.

Hope we have an excellent turnout. Halloween is a kids day, so helping them out just seems right. Happy Halloween from the loin.

Split Fountain Evergold Play

October 9th, 2010

We printed up a couple of designs for Evergold at the shop. The job was finished and the screens were still on press, Megan Wolfe got behind the lens. Thankfully the Evergold crew embraces experimentation, obvious to anyone who’s been to the gallery. the loin play time! Split fountain isn’t a new trick, but it’s still fun. Split fountain? Adding several colors of ink using only one screen, pushing them through and leting them mix on the fly. The colors we used reminded us of rainbow sherbert. The Tenderloin needs more color, and we’re glad to help.

Touch Down Jesus, Blue Collar Bushido @ Ever Gold

September 2nd, 2010

There’s an exciting gallery show tonight (Thursday September 2nd, 2010.) Jeremiah Jenkins’ Blue Collar Bushido and Josh Shorts’ Touch Down Jesus @ Ever Gold Gallery, 441 O’Farrell Street. We printed up some tees for both artists, see below. The Blue Collar Bushido print uses the discharge process, basically a bleach type ink that doesn’t harm the threads but removes the dye after being heated, super soft and breathable. Jeremiah has a write up on Hi-Fructose, and Ever Gold visited the studios for both Josh and Jeremiah. The show kicks off at 6 PM and wraps up at 9 PM. A must see event, come on out.

Craft Bar

August 16th, 2010

We did some live flatstock printing for Craft Bar at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art sponsored by Etsy. the loin’s Manuel TL came up with a couple of great interpretations of the MOCFA logo. It was really enjoyable  to do a little instructing and get the squeegee into novice hands. Our friends over at Tenderblog gave us some coverage and Megan Wolfe was on hand to capture the moment. Also, you should check out her recent photos taken at the loin while testing out her new camera gear. Thanks MOCFA staff and participants for a great time. We’ll see you at Craft Bar again.
